OPTION
In a model’s everyday work, an “option” refers to a non-binding reservation for a specific period or job. With it, the client signals concrete interest in a model without bindingly confirming the booking yet. For the model, this means keeping the period in question free for the time being – even without a firm commitment. This keeping free is often referred to as a “hold.”
Options are limited in time and can either be confirmed or released again by the client. Only when an option is exercised, i.e., turns into a binding booking, is the job considered secured. Until then, it remains a possible but not guaranteed work opportunity. If you are on “first option” (first choice), however, your chances of actually getting the job are particularly good.
Always take an option seriously, so don't plan anything binding during that period, and tell your agency right away if anything changes on your side. Holding options reliably earns you the trust of clients and bookers. At the same time, don't count on the job until it's confirmed, neither for travel plans nor for your finances.
