WHITELISTING
In influencer marketing, “whitelisting” refers to the practice where an influencer grants a brand permission to use their social media account or content for paid advertisements.
Specifically, this means the brand can run ads directly through the influencer’s account – that is, in the influencer’s name. To followers, the content appears to be a “normal” post from the influencer, even though it is specifically served as advertising and often distributed to a larger or new audience.
The advantage lies in authenticity and performance: Ads placed through the influencer’s account often achieve better results because they appear more trustworthy than traditional brand ads. At the same time, the brand retains more control over the campaign’s targeting, budget, and duration.
For influencers, whitelisting usually involves additional compensation, as they grant usage rights to their account and content. It is important to have clear contractual terms – for example, regarding the duration, the content, and how the ads may be used.
