INTIMACY COORDINATOR
An intimacy coordinator is a specially trained professional who oversees intimate or particularly sensitive scenes in film and television productions. These include, for example, kissing and touching scenes, nude scenes, or the depiction of sexual acts. The job is to combine the creative vision with the protection of personal boundaries and the informed, voluntary consent of all performers involved.
Before filming, the planned sequences, possible touching, and individual boundaries are discussed. Intimate actions are precisely choreographed together with the director and the performers. During production, the intimacy coordinator makes sure that agreements are kept and that consent is still in place. Protective garments, suitable coverings, and a closed set, where only the people who are directly needed are present, can also be part of it.
This kind of support can also make sense in the modeling business, for example for nude shoots, body-focused campaigns, or staged intimacy between several models. It supports clear communication between models, the creative team, and production, and helps carry out sensitive shoots respectfully and professionally.
If a job involves nudity, close body contact or scenes with other models, you can ask through your agency whether such support is planned. Agree in writing beforehand what will be shown and where your boundaries are, because pressure to agree spontaneously builds quickly on set. You can stop at any time if something departs from what was agreed.
