GRID GIRL
A grid girl is a woman who stands on the starting grid, or grid, before the start of a motorsport event, particularly Formula 1, MotoGP, or other racing series. She typically wears a striking outfit, often representing the colors of the team or event, and holds a sign displaying the driver’s or team’s starting number. The main purpose of a grid girl is to introduce the drivers and add a touch of glamour to entertain the spectators. She is meant to visually enhance the event and boost the atmosphere surrounding it. However, in recent years, the practice of using grid girls has faced increasing criticism, as many view the idea of women being used solely as decorative elements as problematic.
