What are the responsibilities of a model booker?
The work of a model booker evokes images of glamour and a high-end lifestyle: runways in Paris, London, and New York, and photoshoots for magazines like Vogue or Elle. However, the job of a model booker is primarily hard work. Bookers handle booking models for agencies, market them over the phone (acquiring new clients), and manage the models’ schedules. They search for suitable faces for specific projects, negotiate salaries, and organize the models’ travel. Furthermore, they are responsible for the models’ most important marketing tools, the comp cards, and maintain contacts with makeup artists, stylists, and photographers. Model bookers must speak perfect English, as they communicate daily with models from various countries as well as international clients. There is no specific training or course to become a booker.
