TEASER
A teaser is a short, deliberately incomplete content – for example a video, a sentence or a picture – that only gives a small glimpse and leaves the rest open. It is precisely this “not-everything-revealed” that ensures that people stick around, click further or wait for the next post.
On social media, influencers often place teasers at the beginning of a video or in the caption. For example, they start with statements like “You won’t believe what just happened” or show just a thrilling moment without immediately providing the resolution. This creates a so-called tension effect: the brain is eager to fill in the missing information. Many also use stories or several posts in a row to build up a small story – first, it is teased, then the resolution or the complete video follows later.
Additionally, teasers help to increase reach. When content sparks curiosity, people watch longer, click on it more often, or even share it. This signals to the platforms that the content is interesting, and it will be played more often. It is important that the teaser is exciting, but also that it delivers what it promises at the end – otherwise followers quickly lose trust.
