SUPERMODEL STRUT
Supermodel strut describes a distinctive, confident, and rhythmic runway walk that radiates elegance, strength, and presence. The word “strut” means to walk proudly and with swagger, and here it describes an expressive walk in which posture, movement, and personality come together.
Typical features are a stable, upright upper body, relaxed shoulders that are slightly pulled back, and a gaze directed straight ahead. The feet are often placed one in front of the other along an imaginary line, which can create a pronounced hip sway. The steps often follow the rhythm of the music and look powerful, controlled, and effortless at the same time. How pronounced these elements are depends on the model’s personal walking style and the concept of the show.
Outside the fashion world, “supermodel strut” is also used metaphorically for a particularly confident, elegant entrance. On social media, the expression is also used for Reels in which people imitate the signature runway walks of famous supermodels such as Naomi Campbell or Gisele Bündchen.
Some shows and events explicitly want this confident, commanding walk, for example commercial brands or productions with a show character. If you can call it up in a controlled way without tipping into exaggeration, you broaden your casting repertoire. But always check which walk the specific show wants, because for minimalist collections it would be out of place.
