PHOTOGRAPHERS PIT
A photographer’s pit is the area directly in front of the stage, the catwalk or the red carpet, where professional photographers stand to take pictures. This area plays a central role, especially on the catwalk, because it is located exactly at the end or along the catwalk – that is, where you have your most important moments as a model. For models, the photographer’s pit is crucial because this is where most of the high-quality and later published photos are created.
As you walk down the catwalk, you should always be aware of the photographer’s pit, as it is your most important camera zone. Especially at the end of the catwalk, when you take a break and perform your turn, all the photographers’ attention is focused on you. At this moment, it is important to turn your body slightly towards the cameras, to set your gaze purposefully and to hold your pose briefly, so that several clear shots can be taken.
At the same time, you need a good sense of timing and space on the catwalk: You need to know when to slow down, when to pause, and from which angle your outfit looks best. The photograben is your point of orientation, because it shows you where the “main cameras” are. If you actively integrate the Photographer’s Pit into your walk and specifically focus on it during the turn, you will appear more professional and achieve stronger images.
