IMAGE MODEL
Image models, also known as glamour models, work in the more sensual areas of the advertising industry and frequently grace magazines, calendars, or websites aimed at an adult audience. This category also includes models with noticeable cosmetic enhancements, such as visibly enhanced lips and breast augmentations, provided their proportions are appropriate. Well-known examples in the high-end segment include the prestigious Pirelli Calendar and the coveted Playboy cover. Most glamour models are also available for nude or semi-nude shoots. They are often booked for so-called image jobs, appearing as brand ambassadors at exclusive events, opening ceremonies, product launches, or special occasions. The models interact with guests, pose for photos, and may appear alongside celebrities or influencers, generating additional reach and visibility. The focus is on the model’s presence and charisma, which attracts the target audience and creates positive associations with the brand.
Fashion VS. Image Model
In advertising photography, there’s a distinction between fashion and image modeling. A fashion model’s role is to avoid distracting from the advertised product and essentially serves as a neutral presentation surface. An image model, on the other hand, draws attention to themselves and is the first thing that catches the eye in an advertisement or commercial. Only then does the viewer perceive the actual advertising message. The model’s attractive features are transferred to the product. Sometimes, the product even fades into the background, and the model takes center stage, assuming the role of an actor.
Red Flags
The job of an image model is to represent the event glamorously and create a positive atmosphere. However, it’s crucial that clear boundaries are always maintained and professionalism is upheld.
