COMMERCIAL WALK
The commercial walk, also known as the ready-to-wear walk, is often seen at more commercial brands, swimwear shows (such as Victoria’s Secret in the past) or contemporary labels.
- Characteristics: Much looser, livelier and more cheerful. Models are allowed to bounce (bob slightly), smile, seek eye contact with the audience and even interact.
- Body: The posture is more relaxed, and the movements look more natural and closer to everyday life.
Commercial shows are a regular source of income for many models, and what counts here is that the audience can relate to you and the clothes. At castings, clients watch whether you can smile and make eye contact while still looking professional. If you master this walk, you can take on brand events and trade fair appearances in addition to fashion week shows.
