CASTING-TAPE
Clients often want to see a video of the model to get a more authentic impression of them: facial expressions, body language, posture, articulation, and a brief demonstration of your runway style – since the comp card doesn’t include this information—are all part of such a video. A video gives a client a very good sense of the model’s personal presence, communication skills, and runway quality. The video is usually produced by the model’s agency. It is advisable not to wear too much makeup so that a client can see what the model looks like naturally. Usually, the model says a few sentences about themselves in the video – all in English (name, height, measurements, and country of origin) – so that the client can see that the model can communicate in English and has a pleasant tone of voice. This is particularly important for TV commercials. The model also demonstrates their walking style (for women in high-heels) in swimwear or lingerie to convince the client of their catwalk expertise. Overall, the casting tape gives a client a very good first impression without having seen the model in person beforehand, which increases the chances of landing a job or receiving an invitation to a personal audition.
