BAKING
Baking is a professional Make-Up technique used primarily when Make-Up needs to look absolutely flawless and long-lasting under strong lighting conditions. After applying concealer – usually under the eyes, in the T-zone, or under the cheekbones – a generous amount of translucent powder is applied to the affected areas and left to set for a few minutes. The warmth of the skin causes the powder to blend more effectively with the foundation and concealer, resulting in a particularly smooth, set finish. The excess powder is then carefully brushed away.
This technique is especially relevant for photoshoots using strong studio or flash lighting. Such lighting is unforgiving of imperfections – every tiny crease or concealer shift becomes visible. Baking brightens the under-eye area, visually refines pores, and ensures long-lasting wear. The result is a very smooth, almost filter-like look, which is particularly in demand for beauty, glamour or editorial productions.
