WHAT RED FLAGS SHOULD YOU WATCH OUT FOR WITH MODEL ACADEMIES?!
Not every model coaching program delivers what it promises. So before you invest time and money, it pays to take a closer look: Who will be teaching you, what verifiable experience do the coaches have and what specific skills are you supposed to learn?! The content, schedule and total cost should be transparent from the start.
You should become wary if you are promised guaranteed jobs, agency contracts or an international career. Pressure to book quickly, hidden extra costs or the claim that you won’t stand a chance as a model without this coaching are also warning signs. Professional feedback helps you grow – it doesn’t put you down or exploit your insecurities to sell you more services.
Your personal boundaries must be respected in coaching, too. You do not have to put up with pressure to do revealing shots, unwanted touching or degrading comments. Good coaching can support you, but it cannot guarantee a career.
In our magazine article on red flags in the modeling business, you can learn more about how to recognize warning signs and how to critically assess offers and potential partners in the industry.
