RUNNING ORDER
The running order is the set sequence of a show: it determines which model walks the runway in which look, and when. Backstage, it’s usually posted where everyone can see it, often as a board with the look number, the model’s name, and a photo of each outfit.
For models, the running order is the most important point of reference behind the scenes:
- You can see which position you walk in and how many looks you wear.
- You can tell how much time you have for a quick change between two walks.
- You know who you need to line up behind before you go out.
The running order can still change shortly before the show, for example if a look is swapped or a model drops out. So memorize your position, check the board again before the show, and listen for announcements from the dressers and the show production team. The first position is called the opener, the last one the closer.
