MODELS WELL-BEING CHARTER
The term Models Well-being Charter usually refers to the charter on the working conditions and well-being of models introduced by LVMH and Kering in 2017. It sets out shared standards for protecting health, dignity, and safety within its scope. It is a voluntary commitment by the participating companies, not a law that applies worldwide.
The revision announced in October 2026 strengthens, among other things, protection against harassment, the rules for nude photography, and complaint and monitoring procedures. It also sets a minimum age of 18 for models who portray adults. The stricter rules are set to apply starting with the next Paris Fashion Week in 2027.
If you work for houses that have signed the charter, you can rely on its standards, for example protection from harassment or rules for nude shoots. Know the key points so you notice when a production departs from them. Report violations to your agency, which can pass them on through the designated complaint channels.
