A silver model is a model of a more mature age, often around 50 and up. There is no standard age limit, however. The term “silver” alludes to silver or gray hair, but that isn’t a requirement for this model category.

Silver models are booked for fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and advertising campaigns, for example. Depending on the job, the focus may be on a natural presence, elegance, individuality, or an active lifestyle. Starting out in the modeling business is also possible at this age.

For brands, silver models offer a way to make different age groups visible and to reach audiences who see themselves less reflected in younger models. Featuring them stands for a more diverse portrayal of beauty and real life across generations.

If you want to start or continue modeling at a more mature age, it pays to look specifically for agencies with their own best-ager or silver board. Their bookers know the right clients and how you can realistically be booked. As at any age, make sure that a reputable agency never charges you for signing.
