WHY DO WOMEN MODELS AT THE TOP OF THE INDUSTRY EARN MORE THAN THEIR MALE COUNTERPARTS?!
Male models usually earn less than their female colleagues, although the demand for male models in the industry is increasing. Female models receive approximately 149% more pay than male models. According to the WMN magazine, a man ranks 25th among the world’s highest-paid models.
The reason for such a glaring difference in model pay is provided by the fashion industry. Clothing companies make more profit from women’s clothing than from men’s fashion. Therefore, female models create more added value for fashion industry companies than their male colleagues. The men’s clothing industry generates about $400 billion in sales worldwide, but the women’s clothing industry is worth about $621 billion worldwide, according to Larry D. Woodard, president and CEO of Graham Stanley Advertising and advertising columnist at ABC News.
However, as the gentlemen’s sense of style increases, the market changes and so does the model fee that male models can soon count on.
